ActiveCampaign is a general marketing automation platform with a sales CRM, used by service businesses, SaaS and B2B as well as stores. Klaviyo is built around ecommerce data: orders, products and browsing power its segments, flows and predictions.

What each costs
ActiveCampaign (billed yearly): at 1,000 contacts Starter $15, Plus $49, Pro $79, Enterprise $145 a month; at 2,500 contacts $39, $95, $149 and $255; at 10,000 contacts $149, $189, $375 and $589.

| Contacts | ActiveCampaign Plus | ActiveCampaign Pro | Klaviyo Email |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2,500 | $95/mo | $149/mo | About $60/mo |
| 10,000 | $189/mo | $375/mo | About $150/mo |
ActiveCampaign billed yearly; Klaviyo monthly.
ActiveCampaign Plus or Pro unlock most automation and CRM features.
Our take: Klaviyo has the edge.
Automation builder
Both are known for automation, but they are tuned for different businesses.
ActiveCampaign
ActiveCampaign’s builder is one of the most flexible available: trigger on form submissions, tags, site visits, link clicks, deal changes, custom events or dates; branch with if/else on almost any condition; add goals that let contacts jump ahead when they convert; split-test paths; and update CRM deals inside the same automation. It suits long B2B nurtures, course launches, onboarding and service businesses.
Klaviyo
Klaviyo flows are built around ecommerce events: placed order, started checkout, viewed product, fulfilled order, back in stock, price drop. Conditional splits use store and profile data, and messages can be A/B tested. For store marketing, its triggers are richer; for non-ecommerce journeys, they are more limited.
Our take: ActiveCampaign has the edge for general automation.
Ecommerce data and segmentation
Klaviyo is built on store data, with predictive analytics such as expected next order date, churn risk and customer lifetime value, plus product feeds for dynamic recommendations. ActiveCampaign connects to Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce and supports abandoned-cart and purchase automations, but its ecommerce data is a layer on top of a general platform rather than the core of it.
Our take: Klaviyo has the edge.

CRM and sales
ActiveCampaign includes a sales CRM with pipelines, deal stages, tasks and deal scoring on Plus and above, and sales automation on Pro and Enterprise. Sales and marketing share one contact record, which is valuable for B2B. Klaviyo has rich customer profiles but no sales pipeline, because store customers rarely need one.
Our take: ActiveCampaign has the edge.

Channels
Both send email and SMS. Klaviyo adds mobile app push, WhatsApp in supported regions and a reviews product. ActiveCampaign adds site messages, conditional content and predictive sending on Pro, and connects to many tools through its 900-plus integrations.
Our take: the two are evenly matched here, so this should not decide your choice.
Reporting
Klaviyo reports attributed revenue per flow and campaign, cohorts and benchmarks against similar stores. ActiveCampaign reports on campaigns, automations, goals, contact trends and, on Plus and above, deals and pipeline, with attribution on higher plans.
Our take: Klaviyo has the edge for stores; ActiveCampaign for B2B.
Ease of use and support
Both have a learning curve. ActiveCampaign offers chat and email support on all plans, free migrations on many plans and a large template library of automation recipes. Klaviyo offers email support on paid plans, chat for larger accounts, and a big partner network of agencies.
Our take: ActiveCampaign has the edge.
