For a WooCommerce store, email is not a newsletter; it is revenue. Abandoned carts, post-purchase follow-ups and win-back offers are where most of the money is. MailPoet, Klaviyo and DoubleScale all promise to automate them, at very different prices.
We build DoubleScale, so we have tried to be specific about where each one wins, including where Klaviyo is simply better.
Full disclosure: we make DoubleScale. We have kept the two other tools’ strengths in, quoted every price from their own pricing pages, and listed the cases where DoubleScale is the wrong choice.
This MailPoet vs Klaviyo vs DoubleScale comparison focuses on what matters to a WooCommerce store owner.
The short answer
Made by the WooCommerce team. Cart reminders and purchase follow-ups at a low price, sending included.
Deep customer data, predictive analytics, A/B testing and SMS. Worth it when email is a major channel.
Cart recovery by email, SMS or WhatsApp with unlimited contacts, plus orders, tickets and invoices on one record.
Cost for a growing store
Klaviyo bills on active profiles, MailPoet on subscribers, DoubleScale per site. For stores with thousands of past customers, that difference dominates.
| List size | MailPoet Business | Klaviyo Email | DoubleScale Basic + SES |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | $120/yr | $240/yr | $101/yr |
| 2,500 | $360/yr | $720/yr | $111/yr |
| 10,000 | $960/yr | $1,800/yr | $147/yr |
Yearly cost on monthly billing, 4 campaigns a month to the whole list. Vendor pricing pages, checked October 17, 2026. DoubleScale includes Amazon SES at $0.10 per 1,000 emails.
Email only, four campaigns a month. Klaviyo tiers from its US estimator as reported by 2026 pricing guides.
Round 1: Abandoned cart recovery
MailPoet lets you send as many abandoned cart emails as you like, with different delays. Klaviyo adds browse abandonment, conditional splits and SMS in the same flow. DoubleScale Pro treats a cart like a CRM event: the workflow can send email, SMS or WhatsApp, apply a coupon, and stop automatically when the cart is recovered.

Round winnerKlaviyo for flow depth; DoubleScale for channels and price.
Round 2: Seeing what was recovered
Klaviyo’s revenue attribution and benchmarks are best in class. MailPoet reports email revenue on paid plans. DoubleScale has a cart analytics screen with every cart, its status (recovered, pending or lost) and the items in it.

Round winnerKlaviyo
Round 3: SMS and WhatsApp
MailPoet is email only. Klaviyo sells Email + SMS plans with credit-based messaging. DoubleScale Pro supports SMS through Twilio and WhatsApp through the WhatsApp Business API, with two-way conversations in a shared inbox and replies that can trigger automations.
Round winnerKlaviyo and DoubleScale
Round 4: Data and setup
MailPoet and DoubleScale run inside WooCommerce’s own WordPress install, so orders and customers are already there. Klaviyo syncs data to its platform through its plugin, which has a 2.8★ rating from 24 reviews on WordPress.org, and every synced emailable customer can count toward your bill.
Round winnerMailPoet and DoubleScale
Round 5: Post-purchase and win-back
Klaviyo’s flow library covers post-purchase, replenishment and winback with conditional splits. MailPoet sends follow-ups after a first purchase or a purchase of a specific product or category, with review follow-ups and re-engagement offers on paid plans. DoubleScale Pro triggers on completed orders, refunds, reviews, subscriptions and memberships, and can send a thank-you email, a VIP text or a win-back coupon from the same builder.
Round winnerKlaviyo for prebuilt flows; DoubleScale for SMS and WhatsApp follow-ups.
Round 6: Support tickets and B2B
Neither Klaviyo nor MailPoet handles support or quotes. DoubleScale includes a helpdesk inbox and proposals and invoices in its free plugin, so a customer’s orders, support tickets and emails are on one timeline. Automations can react to new tickets or refunds too.

Switching from Klaviyo to DoubleScale
- Install DoubleScale and connect a sending provider such as Amazon SES.
- Import your WooCommerce customers directly, or a CSV export of subscribed profiles from Klaviyo.
- Rebuild your three most valuable flows first: abandoned cart, post-purchase and welcome.
- Or keep Klaviyo for campaigns and use DoubleScale Pro’s Klaviyo sync.
When DoubleScale is not the right choice
- There is no built-in sending service. You connect your own provider (Amazon SES, Brevo, Mailgun, SendGrid, Postmark and more) and add its DNS records once.
- No A/B testing yet.
- We are new on WordPress.org, so there are fewer tutorials and community answers than for the big names.
- Automations that send email, sequences, automated campaigns, WooCommerce triggers, SMS and WhatsApp need a Pro plan (from $99 a year). The free automation builder handles tags, lists and contact updates.
- If your store relies on predictive analytics, product recommendations and constant testing, Klaviyo is worth its price.
