“Omnichannel” is Omnisend’s whole pitch: email, SMS and web push in one workflow for online stores. MailPoet keeps things simpler, email only, inside WooCommerce. DoubleScale, which we build, adds SMS and WhatsApp to a CRM that also lives inside WordPress.
For a WooCommerce store choosing between them, the questions are which channels you will really use, where you want customer data to live, and what you will pay as your customer list grows.
Full disclosure: we make DoubleScale. We have kept the two other tools’ strengths in, quoted every price from their own pricing pages, and listed the cases where DoubleScale is the wrong choice.
This MailPoet vs Omnisend vs DoubleScale comparison covers the channels, the automation and the cost.

Round 1: Store automations
Omnisend ships ready-made workflows for cart abandonment, order and shipping confirmation and welcome series, and mixes channels within them. MailPoet covers abandoned cart, first purchase and product or category purchases. DoubleScale Pro triggers on WooCommerce orders, subscriptions, reviews, coupons, wishlists and abandoned carts, and can send email, SMS or WhatsApp from the same workflow.

Round winnerOmnisend for ready-made templates; DoubleScale for WhatsApp and two-way replies.
Round 2: Cart recovery results
Omnisend reports revenue per workflow. MailPoet reports WooCommerce revenue on paid plans. DoubleScale lists every abandoned cart with its status (recovered, pending or lost) and the items in it.

Round 3: Where customer data lives
MailPoet and DoubleScale keep customers in your WordPress database. Omnisend syncs store data to its platform through its plugin. If data ownership or GDPR processing matters to you, that is a meaningful difference.

Round 4: Building the message
Omnisend’s editor is designed for product emails, with product pickers and discount codes. MailPoet’s editor is simple, with 70+ templates and a WooCommerce email customiser. DoubleScale’s builder includes a product block on Pro, and merge tags such as the cart total that fill in per customer.

Round winnerOmnisend
Round 5: Conversations
Omnisend and MailPoet send messages; replies go to your normal inbox. DoubleScale Pro collects email, SMS and WhatsApp replies in one shared inbox inside WordPress, linked to the customer, and a reply can trigger an automation.

Switching from Omnisend to DoubleScale
- Install DoubleScale and connect an email provider, plus Twilio or the WhatsApp Business API for messaging.
- Import WooCommerce customers directly.
- Rebuild cart recovery and post-purchase workflows, adding SMS or WhatsApp where it helps.
- Keep only contacts with consent for each channel; DoubleScale records opt-outs per channel.
When DoubleScale is not the answer
- There is no built-in sending service. You connect your own provider (Amazon SES, Brevo, Mailgun, SendGrid, Postmark and more) and add its DNS records once.
- No A/B testing yet.
- We are new on WordPress.org, so there are fewer tutorials and community answers than for the big names.
- Automations that send email, sequences, automated campaigns, WooCommerce triggers, SMS and WhatsApp need a Pro plan (from $99 a year). The free automation builder handles tags, lists and contact updates.
- If web push notifications are central to your marketing, Omnisend includes them; DoubleScale does not.
